Simon Bolz
Photographer
Simon Bolz (1975) studied design at the Frankfurt Academy of Communication and Design, where he discovered his interest in photography. Simon resides in Frankfurt am Main (Germany).
His focus lies on people photography. I am captivated by faces, looks, and expressions – so I mostly shoot portraits and fashion. Usually I produce a series of images on one particular.
The most successful pairings are simple ones. Wine and cheese. Ramalama and dingdong – the reason why I keep my compositions simple. I balance the elements to have fewer colours and less details in the frame. It is always about reduction, as we have to deal with stimulus satiation permanently.
Simon Bolz’ definition of a good picture: You want to hang it on your wall for at least a month. That’s what I am working on with my Canon EOS 1Ds MKII. I use it with Profoto studio equipment and California Sunbounce reflectors.
