When did you become interested in photography?
I became interested in photography during my foundation course, when it became apparent i was to lazy to learn to paint and had no interest in the current trends in painting. I hankered after being Caravaggio, but it seems i was born out of time. Photography afforded me a quick and controlled way to express myself.
Do you have your own studio or are you working on location?
God i hate shooting on location but its something i want to master…..most of my work takes place in a studio as and when i have the funds to hire one.
Do you have assistance or are you working alone?
I have spent years working alone, building my own props etc and having total contriol, but have recently started collaborating more, my partner and muse (featured in many of these photographs) assists me know as well as working on her own projects (marla-mostbeautifulwoman). I have also begun to collaborate with a wonderful stylist/ make up artist, Beatrix Lopez .
Was It easy to find models when you started photographing nude?
When i first started shooting nudes it was a little tricky finding models, but its comparitively easy really with the amount of modelling sites on the internet nowadays and a strong portfolio.
What do you prefer: digital or analog?
I shoot analogue but edit digitally..i miss the dark room but photoshop is more forgiving and much cheaper.
Do you have other artist(s) who you admire and inspire you?
Artists that inspire….well theres many but i always come back to avedon, mapplethorp and penn.
What do you think is your best photograph?
The best photograph of mine is the next one im going to take, its what gets me up in the mornings, most days!
